This department deals with the engineering aspects of food processing operation. Any food process is a mere combination of two or more unit operations. It deals with the design of equipments, to design Cold storage room, Refrigeration plant, Dairy Plant, Bakery Plant, Food Processing Plant and to design plant layout for the same. It deals with the study of various vital foods processing equipment such as Microwave Oven, Dielectric Heating, Sterilization equipment, combined heat exchanger, pressure measuring device, Bernoulli's apparatus, hydraulic bench tray apparatus, Reynolds apparatus, Infrared moisture meter, Sieve shaker, Centrifugation equipments, Filtration, Expression, Extraction, Bucket elevator, Screw Conveyor, Steam Generator, Baking equipments & Crystallization equipments. It concerns with the study of packaging material, it’s functional characteristics, and application in the processing industry. It is useful in drawing of maps and equipment to the scale from engineering point of view. It helps to understand the importance of various size-reduction equipments useful in food processing industries. It provides precious information about the heat and mass transfer, steam generation and application, renewable energy generation and application, study of Refrigeration, etc.
